Iran vows to control Strait of Hormuz until end of war
Iran has announced plans to maintain control over maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz until the end of ongoing hostilities and the establishment of lasting peace in the region.
The statement was issued by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, which framed the move as a matter of national and regional security.
According to the council, a significant share of logistical supplies destined for US military bases in the Persian Gulf passes through the strategic waterway. Iranian officials argued that this creates potential security risks for the Islamic Republic and neighbouring states.
“Iran is determined to monitor and control vessel movement through the Strait of Hormuz until the final end of the war and the establishment of durable peace in the region,” the council said in a statement, as reported by Fars News Agency.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical chokepoints for global energy supplies, with a substantial portion of international oil shipments transiting the narrow passage.
