Iran warns of stronger response to any new attack
Iran has warned it would respond more severely to any new attack on the country and said it is prepared for “all scenarios,” according to remarks by a senior Iranian parliamentary official.
Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said Tehran would escalate its response if it comes under renewed military pressure, Iran International reports.
“Any new aggression will bring greater humiliation for Trump, and the Strait of Hormuz will never return to its previous state. No power will be able to reopen it without our consent,” Rezaei said.
US President Donald Trump on May 18 confirmed plans to strike and canceled them at the same time. He said he had authorised a new wave of attacks against Iran this week but that he was holding off to make room for “serious negotiations,” after saying that three Gulf leaders requested more time to work out a nuclear deal.
