Italy tops list of Azerbaijani oil buyers
In the first eight months of 2024, Italy emerged as the top importer of Azerbaijani oil, purchasing 6,226,091.81 tonnes — a 17.6% decrease compared to the same period last year.
The value of these exports also fell by 16.1%, totalling $3.94 billion, Caliber.Az cites the data of the State Customs Committee.
Israel ranked second, importing 2,233,526.78 tonnes of Azerbaijani oil, reflecting a 22.7% increase. The total value of these exports grew by 26.6%, reaching $1.38 billion.
The Czech Republic secured the third position, with imports of 1,165,388.19 tonnes, up 27.1%. The value of these imports surged by 39.3% to $738.77 million.
The remaining top ten buyers are as follows:
- India: 1,029,548.41 tonnes worth $646.78 million
- Croatia: 1,005,081.15 tonnes valued at $627.01 million
- Portugal: 691,401.29 tonnes totaling $437.55 million
- Germany: 618,386.55 tonnes worth $406.34 million
- United Kingdom: 650,115.4 tonnes valued at $390.90 million
- Romania: 433,832.59 tonnes totaling $269.18 million
- Thailand: 376,876.12 tonnes worth $234.24 million
Overall, Azerbaijan exported 16,475,802.81 tonnes of oil to 23 countries during the first eight months of 2024. This represents an 11% decline in volume and an 8.2% decrease in value, amounting to $10.31 billion.
