Izmir to host 4th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum in September

06 March 2025 16:38

The Fourth Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum will be held in Izmir this September, according to Zamina Aliyeva, an advisor to Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy.

The forum is expected to be co-chaired by Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum was established under the framework of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the two nations. Its aim is to enhance flexible and effective strategic collaboration in the energy sector.

To recall, the 3rd Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum and Nakhchivan - Green Energy Zone International Conference, held in Nakhchivan, focused on enhancing energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, with contributions from international energy stakeholders.

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, and UAE's Mariam Mohammed Almheiri highlighted the strategic significance of green energy initiatives. Fuad Najafli, Azerbaijani plenipotentiary representative, emphasized the importance of the event for transforming Nakhchivan into a green energy hub, with plans for 1500 MW of wind and solar capacity.

Discussions covered key projects such as the expansion of renewable energy capacities, including solar plants with TotalEnergies and Masdar, and plans for green energy exports to Türkiye and Europe. The Forum featured sessions on energy transition policies and opportunities for financing green projects.

The signing of various agreements, including a memorandum on renewable energy cooperation and a roadmap for the Türkiye-Azerbaijan interaction through Nakhchivan, underscored the ongoing commitment to regional energy security and sustainability. This event showcased the continued partnership between Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and international energy entities in advancing green energy solutions.
