Kazakh media spotlight president Aliyev's Shusha forum remarks PHOTO
Kazakh media outlets have widely reported Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's remarks at the opening of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, focusing on his comments on regional transport, foreign relations and ties with Russia.
According to AZERTAC, reports appeared in several leading Kazakh publications, including NUR.KZ, Ulysmedia.kz, Kursiv.media and Lada.kz.
The coverage highlighted Aliyev's statement that more than 40,000 tonnes of cargo from Kazakhstan, Russia and other countries are transported through Azerbaijan to Armenia. He said that, at a time when many countries face difficulties securing fuel supplies, Armenia relies on Azerbaijan as a reliable supplier.
Kazakh media also reported Aliyev's comments on Azerbaijan's relations with the Council of Europe, including his criticism of what he described as discriminatory treatment of the country and his suggestion that Baku could ultimately end its membership of the organisation.
The reports noted his claim that the Council of Europe's Secretary General had urged him not to take such a step and instead seek ways to improve the situation.
The publications also covered Aliyev's remarks on Azerbaijan's relations with Russia, quoting him as saying that bilateral ties had been fully normalised and that cooperation continues through the two governments, the intergovernmental commission, the foreign ministries and the presidential administrations.
