Kazakh president lands in Pakistan: Trade, cooperation, connectivity on agenda
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Pakistan for his first state visit, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
He landed at Nur Khan Airbase, where he was officially received by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. President Tokayev was accompanied by a high-level delegation including senior cabinet ministers and other officials, Caliber.Az reports, citing Pakistani media.
During his visit, Tokayev is expected to hold high-level meetings with senior Pakistani government officials and deliver an address at the Pakistan–Kazakhstan Business Forum.
The Pakistani Foreign Office (FO) highlighted the importance of the visit, noting that it provides “an important and timely opportunity to undertake a comprehensive review of bilateral relations,” explore new avenues for cooperation—particularly in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, and people-to-people contacts—and examine joint initiatives at regional and international forums.
The FO added that the visit reflects “the strengthening bonds between the two countries, their mutual commitment to transforming historic and cultural affinities into robust cooperation, and their common desire for peace and progress in the region.”
