Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan hold live-fire drills PHOTO
The Kazakh and Kyrgyz air defence forces have held “Combat Commonwealth-2023” live-fire drills in Kazakhsan’s Saryshagan range.
The joint manoeuvres were observed by Kazakh and Kyrgyz defence ministers Ruslan Zhaksylykov and Baktybek Bekbolotov respectively, KNIA Kabar reports.
In accordance with the plan of the exercise, the combat firing of air defence troops and aviation crews of the Kazakh Armed Forces’ North-East Military District’s Air Force was shown at air and ground targets.
The final chord was “destruction of enemy airfield facilities.”
For the first time, military personnel of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces’ Air Defence used live firing from the modernised mobile anti-aircraft missile system "Pechora-2 BM", brought from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan to use during the drills.
At the end of the live firing, the ministers examined mock-ups of targets, the Pechora-2BM air defence system of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces, the Buk-M2E and TOR-M2K air defence systems.
The joint exercise ended with a closing ceremony, during which the heads of defence departments awarded the participants of the drills.
The joint drills involved 1,075 military personnel, more than 200 units of military and special equipment, as well as over 30 aircraft.
