Kazakhstan to fund UN regional centre with $3 million annually
Kazakhstan will allocate $3 million annually to a United Nations Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be established in Almaty, according to Kazinform.
The decision was approved by Kazakhstan’s Senate as part of the ratification of agreements with the United Nations on the creation of a Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan.
Under the memorandum, funding will be provided over the period from 2025 to 2029. The funds will be directed toward programmes focused on sustainable development, climate initiatives, inclusive economic growth, and humanitarian efforts.
The establishment of the centre is seen as a step toward strengthening Kazakhstan’s role as a regional platform for international cooperation and coordination of development efforts.
