Kazakhstan to send more oil through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline

07 August 2026 16:50

Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG) plans to increase oil exports through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline by 31% in 2026, reaching 1.7 million tons, the company announced.

The figures were presented at a meeting of the Public Council of Samruk-Kazyna.

KMG transported 1.3 million tons of oil through the BTC pipeline in 2025. The planned increase would further strengthen the pipeline’s role in Kazakhstan’s efforts to diversify its export routes and secure reliable access to international markets.

The approximately 1,700-kilometre BTC pipeline links the Caspian region with the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan and has an annual capacity of up to 50 million tons of oil.

The route is strategically important for Kazakhstan as it provides an alternative export corridor to traditional routes and connects the country’s crude supplies to global markets through the South Caucasus and Türkiye.

KazMunayGas is Kazakhstan’s national operator for hydrocarbon exploration, production, processing and transportation and represents the state’s interests in the country’s oil and gas sector.
