Kremlin endorses Trump’s Middle East initiative as path to peace
Russia has voiced strong support for the unveiled Middle East peace plan by US President Donald Trump, expressing hope that the initiative will lead to de-escalation and a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
Speaking to journalists, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov affirmed Moscow’s endorsement of Trump’s efforts, which he described as a constructive contribution toward ending the current hostilities in the region, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“In Russia, we always support and welcome any of Trump’s efforts that are aimed at preventing the tragedy that is currently unfolding,” Peskov stated. He added that the Kremlin regards the plan as a potentially transformative step in shifting the course of events toward peaceful dialogue.
“We hope this plan will be implemented and that it will help steer events in the Middle East toward a peaceful course,” he said.
Peskov further emphasized that Russia maintains open channels of communication with all parties involved in the Middle East conflict, reinforcing the country’s long-standing position as a diplomatic interlocutor in the region.
“We maintain our contacts with all countries involved in the conflict [in the Middle East]. And, of course, Russia remains ready—if called upon—to make efforts to help facilitate a settlement,” he noted.
US President Donald Trump unveiled a new proposal for resolving the Gaza conflict during a high-level meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
At the heart of the plan lies a security-focused initiative calling for the deployment of a multinational military contingent comprised of forces from Arab and Muslim nations. This peacekeeping force would be tasked with stabilizing the Gaza Strip in the aftermath of hostilities.
The American proposal also stipulates the simultaneous release of all hostages currently held by the Palestinian militant organization Hamas, positioning the move as a critical step toward de-escalation and a broader political settlement.
