Kremlin floats possible Zelenskyy visit to Moscow for peace talks
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could be received in Moscow if he is prepared for “serious and substantive” talks on resolving the conflict. At the same time, he stressed that no official communication channels currently exist between Moscow and Kyiv.
He made the remarks in response to questions on whether Russian President Vladimir Putin had received any official invitation to attend a G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, for a potential meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Of course not. And as you know, there are no official channels between Moscow and Kyiv,” Peskov said.
At the same time, the Kremlin spokesperson stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would be welcome in Moscow if he is prepared for what he described as a responsible and substantive discussion on resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
“You know that President Putin has, in fact, said everything and proposed everything to Zelenskyy. It has been stated and repeated several times that if Zelenskyy is ready to speak responsibly and seriously — Kyiv is well aware of what about — then he can always come to Moscow, where he will be received,” he said.
Separately, Peskov commented on potential visits by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, noting that no exact dates have yet been set for their arrival in Russia. He suggested that such a visit could take place following the signing of a memorandum between the United States and Iran.
“Soon American negotiators will come, but there are no exact dates yet. You know that the Americans are busy preparing and signing a memorandum that has already been agreed. We know that signing is scheduled for the end of this week in Switzerland. After that, the question will probably arise of them visiting Moscow,” Peskov said.
