Kremlin: US presidential envoy Witkoff to visit Moscow next week
Preliminary arrangements have been made for US Presidential Envoy Steve Witcoff to visit Moscow next week, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said.
Ushakov confirmed the planned visit, adding that other members of the US administration involved in Ukrainian affairs are also expected to attend, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Regarding Witcoff, I can say that a preliminary agreement has been reached for him to come to Moscow next week,” Ushakov said. “He and a number of other US officials connected to Ukrainian matters will also attend.”
Ushakov acknowledged the difficult state of Russia–US relations but said engagement is continuing through channels, including telephone contacts.
Commenting on recent media reports allegedly revealing details of closed-door discussions with Witcoff, Ushakov stressed that Russia does not leak sensitive diplomatic talks.
“I don’t know,” he said when asked about the origin of the alleged recordings. “Someone leaks, someone listens in, but it’s not us.”
The US media has published transcripts it claims document conversations between Ushakov and Witcoff, as well as between Witcoff and Russia’s special presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev, dated 14 and October 29.
Ushakov suggested the purported leaks were intended to undermine efforts to normalise contacts between Moscow and Washington.
