Kyrgyz ambassador, Azerbaijani economy minister discuss bilateral economic cooperation
Kyrgyzstan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Maksat Mamytkanov, met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, in Baku on April 21 to discuss strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
The meeting focused on advancing economic collaboration between the two countries, with particular emphasis on the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund, which remains the primary instrument for their current economic engagement, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry.
The two sides explored prospects for implementing green projects in the hydropower sector, highlighting sustainable energy as a priority area for cooperation.
Mamytkanov and Jabbarov also reviewed the future of transport connectivity in light of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project. The discussion included the potential development of transit corridors linking the two countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Mamytkanov proposed launching regional cooperation initiatives, starting with Kyrgyzstan’s Naryn region and a partner region in Azerbaijan.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening mutually beneficial economic ties and expressed readiness to expand cooperation in key sectors.
