Leaders from Italy, Romania, Portugal, and more offer condolences to Azerbaijan following tragic plane crash
Leaders from around the world have extended their deepest condolences and solidarity to Azerbaijan over the heart-wrenching passenger plane crash in Kazakhstan’s Aktaus, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The crash occurred on December 25, when an Embraer aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, flying from Baku to Grozny, tragically went down near Aktau. The flight had 67 people on board, including 37 Azerbaijanis, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakhs, and 3 Kyrgyz nationals. Tragically, 38 people lost their lives, while 29 survivors were rescued.
Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, expressed his sorrow, offering condolences both on behalf of Italy and personally, extending sympathy to the people of Azerbaijan and the families of the victims. His message highlighted the shared grief, emphasizing Italy’s commitment to supporting Azerbaijan during this difficult time.
Klaus Werner Iohannis, President of Romania, also conveyed his condolences, emphasizing Romania’s solidarity with Azerbaijan and the families of those who lost their lives in the crash. His message included well-wishes for the swift recovery of the injured and reaffirmed Romania’s support.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of Portugal, conveyed his profound sadness, extending condolences on behalf of the Portuguese people. He also offered wishes for the quick recovery of those affected by the accident, underscoring the deep connection between nations in times of sorrow.
In a heartfelt message, Jakov Milatović, President of Montenegro, expressed his sympathy to the families of the victims and solidarity with the Azerbaijani people. His message also conveyed Montenegro’s support for the speedy recovery of those who were injured in the tragic crash.
Luong Cuong, President of Vietnam, also reached out, extending condolences on behalf of the Vietnamese government and people. His message reiterated Vietnam’s sympathy and solidarity with Azerbaijan and its citizens during this time of loss.
Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of Croatia, shared his condolences, emphasizing the heartbreak caused by the loss of so many innocent lives. He expressed personal and governmental sorrow, alongside wishes for the recovery of the injured passengers.
