Lithuania intends to send delegation to WUF13 in Baku, says ambassador
Lithuania plans to send a delegation to the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan this year, Lithuanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kęstutis Vaškelevičius said.
He stated that it was not yet known who would lead the delegation, but that the delegation would certainly participate, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The ambassador also congratulated Azerbaijan on successfully hosting major international events, highlighting the high level of organisation at the COP29 climate conference in 2024.
“Baku is becoming a venue for many international events, and the upcoming WUF13 is one of them. We look forward to the participation of the Lithuanian delegation and, more broadly, to the development of our bilateral relations,” he added.
Vaškelevičius expressed hope for further strengthening ties between Baku and Vilnius and increasing mutual visits, noting the possibility of contacts at the ministerial and deputy ministerial levels, and leaving open the potential for higher-level meetings in the future.
“While these matters are still being coordinated through diplomatic channels, and it is too early to set specific dates, I am very optimistic about the strengthening of relations between Lithuania and Azerbaijan in 2026,” the ambassador said.
