MHP leader Bahçeli calls for “World Peace Council” in Türkiye After failed Islamabad talks
MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli has proposed the creation of a new international forum called the “World Peace Council”, arguing it could help reduce rising global tensions, and suggested that Türkiye could host it.
In a message sent to tv100’s Pazar Raporu programme, Bahçeli said recent unsuccessful talks in Islamabad between Pakistan, Iran and the United States had increased concerns about global instability and fuelled warnings about wider conflict scenarios.
He proposed that, under the coordination of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, key global actors — including the United States, Russia, China, Türkiye and the European Union — should participate in a new mechanism aimed at strengthening global peace efforts.
Bahçeli also suggested that Türkiye could serve as the host country for the initiative, positioning it as a neutral platform for international diplomacy.
