MoD: Azerbaijan clears over 20,000 hectares of liberated lands VIDEO
Up to 15,620 hectares of liberated lands have been completely cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance as a result of the activity of the engineering and sapper units of the Azerbaijani army in 2022.
To date, more than 29,113 hectares of liberated lands have been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance by engineering and sapper units, Caliber.Az reports citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.
In total, 10,185 anti-personnel mines, 2,580 anti-tank mines and 10,445 unexploded ordnance were discovered and defused.
The main efforts are aimed at demining settlements, crop areas, roads and infrastructure facilities in the liberated territories.
Turkish-made MEMATT (mechanical mine clearing equipment) is used by the engineering and sapper units of the Azerbaijani army in the demining process.
The measures on engineering support are being taken in the liberated territories, the ministry said.
