More Azerbaijanis join eco-protest in Karabakh
The number of protesters on the Shusha-Khankandi road, which is under the Russian peacekeepers' temporary control, continues to grow.
Public activists from Baku continue to arrive in the area of the action, a Report correspondent informs the scene of protest.
The protesters chant slogans in defence of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and against the illegal exploitation of our country's natural resources.
The protesters declared that they will continue the action until the commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces temporarily stationed in some parts of the Karabakh economic region, Major General Andrei Volkov, arrives to negotiate with them.
It should be noted that the protest rally of Azerbaijani activists and members of environmental non-governmental organisations (NGOs) continues in the vicinity of Shusha city at the post of Russian peacekeepers. It demands an end to ecological terror in the Karabakh economic region.
As a result of negotiations held on December 3 and 7, 2022, with the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, a delegation consisting of specialists from Azerbaijan's economy, ecology and natural resources ministries, the State Service for Property Issues under the Economy Ministry and the AzerGold closed-type joint stock company had to conduct preliminary monitoring of the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits on the territory of Azerbaijan, where peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, as well as related environmental and other problems. However, due to the inaction of the peacekeepers, monitoring did not take place.
