Moscow, Baku deepen economic ties across key sectors, Russian official says
Russia and Azerbaijan are continuing to deepen cooperation in transport and logistics, agriculture, and industrial production, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said during the “Russia — Islamic World: KazanForum.”
Overchuk told journalists that the two countries are making substantial progress in the development of the North–South transport and logistics corridor, while infrastructure modernization projects are actively underway in Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“We are making very good progress in cooperation on the creation of the North–South transport and logistics corridor. Railway modernization is being carried out on the territory of Azerbaijan. We have just discussed issues related to the development of road transportation,” Overchuk said.
He also pointed to the growing presence of Russian companies in the Azerbaijani market, particularly manufacturers of automobiles, agricultural machinery, and medical products.
Overchuk noted that bilateral cooperation is also expanding in the agricultural sector, including Russian investment in Azerbaijan’s viticulture and winemaking industries.
“Cooperation in the agricultural sector is also developing. There are Russian investments in Azerbaijan’s viticulture and winemaking industries. (...) The cooperation is very broad, so it would be wrong to single out just one area — everything is very important,” the Russian deputy prime minister said.
