New urban agenda to shape global cities for decades, Peruvian envoy says
A new urban agenda is set to be adopted in New York in July, Peru’s Ambassador to Kenya Romy Tincopa has said, speaking at the Forum of Ministers and High Authorities of Housing and Urban Development of Latin America and the Caribbean (MINURVI) held on the sidelines of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
Tincopa stressed that MINURVI plays a crucial role in enabling countries in the region to coordinate positions and contribute to upcoming international negotiations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“The new urban agenda will shape urban development for decades to come and will be a key tool in combating inequality, ensuring affordable housing, and sustainable urban development for millions of people around the world. That is why it is so important that the voice of Latin American and Caribbean countries is heard in these negotiations,” she said.
