Number of internet users in Azerbaijan exceeds global average
Every 85 out of 100 people in Azerbaijan are internet users. The global average is 63, including 83 in Europe, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan told Report.Az.
Thus, the ministry denied rumours that Azerbaijan lags behind other countries in terms of Internet use.
In addition to the share of internet users, two more factors must be taken into account: “One of them is the technical possibility of accessing the Internet, the physical availability of the network. For example, the coverage of 3G networks and above is more than 97 per cent. The world average is 93 per cent.
The second factor is the speed of internet. Roughly 70 per cent of fixed broadband internet users in Azerbaijan connect to the network using ADSL technology. The fiber-optic connection rate is 19 per cent.
In March 2022, in terms of the speed of fixed broadband Internet, Azerbaijan, having risen by three ranks, took 119th place among 182 countries. According to the Speedtest Global Index report, the average fixed broadband internet download speed in the country was 19.93 Mbps.
Last month, Azerbaijan ranked 63rd in terms of mobile internet speed, dropping two steps. The average download speed was 30.4 Mbps.
