Official: Armenia's customs service to follow “Trump Route” for trade reforms
Armenia’s Customs Service will operate in accordance with the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity,” a framework aimed at simplifying trade procedures and fostering economic growth.
Eduard Hakobyan, the chairman of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee, confirmed the development during a session of the National Assembly in response to a question from Artsvik Minasyan, the secretary of the "Armenia" faction, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Hakobyan explained that while the specific details of the implementation are still being discussed, the overall customs policy would be comprehensive and designed to streamline trade at Armenia's borders.
He stated, “I confirm that the Customs Service will act. As for the details, they are still being discussed. However, regardless of this, our general customs policy is comprehensive; that is, we are carrying out reforms to simplify trade at all our borders.”
The “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” was formalised in a declaration signed on August 8, 2025, by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.
A key point in the declaration, Paragraph 4, emphasised Armenia's commitment to cooperation with the United States and other agreed parties to implement the TRIPP communication program.
The declaration reads, “The Republic of Armenia will cooperate with the United States of America and agreed third parties to determine the framework for the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) communication program on the territory of the Republic of Armenia. We reaffirm our determination to take all measures in good faith to achieve this goal as soon as possible.”
