OTS businesses eye access to hundreds of thousands Chinese retail outlets

Businesses from countries within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) could gain access to more than 341,000 retail outlets across China under a new trade cooperation initiative being developed by regional economic organisations. 

The National Association of Cooperatives and Other Forms of Economic Communities of Kazakhstan and the Foreign Trade Chamber of the Turkic Council are preparing to sign a cooperation agreement aimed at expanding commercial ties and strengthening regional trade integration, Kazakh media reports. 

Speaking about the initiative, a representative involved in the discussions said Kazakhstan serves as a strategic bridge connecting Türkiye and other Turkic nations with China and the broader Asia-Pacific market.

“For Türkiye and the countries of the Turkic world, we serve as a bridge to the vast market of China and the Asia-Pacific region. For us, the Republic of Türkiye is the main gateway to Europe’s largest and most solvent market,” the speaker said.

Officials involved in the project say shifting global economic conditions and changes in international trade architecture are pushing countries in the region to develop new forms of industrial and commercial cooperation.
