Over 1,700 former IDP families returned to Azerbaijan’s Lachin, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Aghdara Article by Presidential Administration chief
Head of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration Samir Nuriyev has highlighted the number of former internally displaced people returned to the liberated territories.
“Since July 19, 2022 till now, 1,727 families of former IDPs (6,754 people) have returned to the cities of Lachin and Fuzuli, villages of Aghaly in Zangilan district, Talish in Aghdara district, Zabukh in Lachin district,” the article by Nuriyev published by AZERTAC says.
Nuriyev noted that large-scale reconstruction and renovation works are underway in the territories liberated from occupation, and people are returning to their native lands: "The scale of work carried out by the Azerbaijani state by its own forces without any outside help is really admirable. President Ilham Aliyev personally controls the restoration and reconstruction of the territories liberated from occupation, and the orders and valuable recommendations by the president create a reliable basis for the full and responsible execution of works. In 2020-2023, President Ilham Aliyev participated in nearly 400 events in the territories liberated from occupation, including laying the foundation of 120 projects, including 8 cities, 32 villages and settlements, and attended the opening of 71 construction projects of various purposes".
Along with the construction of settlements, large-scale reconstruction and renovation work is underway in the region: "Relevant activities are being carried out related to the restoration and reconstruction of social facilities such as secondary schools, kindergartens, hospitals, cultural and tourism institutions. Infrastructure projects include international airports commissioned in Fuzuli and Zangilan. Construction of an airport in Lachin district is underway. Roads, tunnels, bridges, railroads, main gas lines, hydroelectric power plants and substations, water reservoirs are also under construction.”
