Over 100 hectares of drug plantations discovered in Garabagh Azerbaijani Interior Ministry reports

Azerbaijani Interior Ministry's spokesperson Elshad Hajiyev has said that during 30 years of occupation, illegal Armenian formations in Garabagh cultivated plants containing narcotic substances in large volumes.

Hajiyev said this to journalists commenting on drug plantations found in Khojaly, Report informs.

He noted that more than 100 hectares of drug plantations were found in the territories taken under control after local anti-terrorist measures, including in Khojaly district.

"Terrain studies conducted by experts give grounds to say that plants containing narcotic drugs were massively cultivated in these territories," he said.

Hajiyev stressed that Azerbaijan continues to take decisive measures to completely decriminalize the entire territory of the Garabagh economic region.

According to him, the work is being carried out jointly with government agencies authorized in this matter.

“This is not only about the destruction of drug plantations, there is a mine threat. The day before, it was established that mines were hidden in several areas, under bridges, in water bodies and other places where they pose a threat to human life,” he said.

A cannabis plantation has been discovered on 100 hectares in Khojaly, which was provided with special agrotechnical care.

The drug plantation is located near Khojaly airport, according to Azertag.

Currently, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are on the territory of the discovered plantation.

Representatives of foreign media arrived at the site of the discovery of a drug plantation in Khojaly.

APA reports that representatives of foreign media were shocked to see the plantation on 100 hectares of land. According to experts, this is not wild hemp.
