Pakistan condemns ongoing Israeli strikes on Lebanon
Pakistan has condemned the latest wave of Israeli attacks on Lebanon and called on the international community to “take urgent and concrete steps” to prevent further assaults, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement released on April 9, according to CNN.
“The Israeli actions undermine international efforts to establish peace and stability in the region and constitute a blatant violation of international law and fundamental humanitarian principles,” the statement said.
Israel reported that on April 8, it carried out its largest coordinated strike on Lebanon since the start of the war, which, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, killed at least 182 people and left hundreds injured.
Pakistan has maintained that Lebanon is included in the ceasefire agreement it helped broker between the US, Israel, and Iran.
However, the Trump administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have stated that the truce does not apply to actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Iran has warned that the ceasefire could collapse if Israeli attacks on Lebanon persist, highlighting its fragile nature.
