Paraguayan business delegation to visit Azerbaijan to promote Mate PHOTO
A delegation of Paraguayan businesspeople is expected to visit Baku, Azerbaijan, as part of efforts to promote Mate, the South American country's traditional beverage, Paraguay's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Guillermo Sosa has said.
In his words, the visit will focus on introducing Mate to Azerbaijani consumers and expanding trade ties between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
"Mate is one of Paraguay's important traditional products. Consumed daily in the country, the beverage has great cultural significance, similar to tea or coffee, and is considered the national drink," Sosa noted.

According to the ambassador, the Paraguayan delegation will participate in a food exhibition in Istanbul, Türkiye in late August or early September, where it plans to hold bilateral B2B meetings with Turkish companies and establish business contacts.
Following the Istanbul exhibition, the delegation is scheduled to travel to Baku to meet with Azerbaijani businesspeople and companies and explore opportunities to develop trade ties between Azerbaijan and Paraguay.
"We also envisage developing cooperation between businesspeople from Azerbaijan and Paraguay and organizing special promotional events in the future, such as Mate Days. Therefore, we are preparing for high-level visits and meetings in both Istanbul and Baku," Sosa added.
He further stated that such events would provide an important opportunity not only to strengthen trade relations but also to develop cultural ties and promote mutual understanding between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Paraguay.
