Pashinyan reaffirms Armenia’s commitment to Eurasian Economic Union
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has confirmed that Armenia intends to remain actively engaged in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), despite ongoing discussions about closer ties with the European Union.
Speaking to reporters in Gorno-Altaysk, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said the issue was addressed during a meeting between Pashinyan and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
“Armenia remains committed to cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union, and this was reaffirmed during today’s discussions,” Overchuk noted.
Overchuk also acknowledged that Russia and Armenia continue to address concerns related to bilateral trade, which has reportedly seen a decline. Both sides are exploring steps to stabilise and strengthen economic ties within the EAEU framework.
The two leaders also discussed regional security developments in the South Caucasus.
During the meeting, the current state of Armenia-Russia relations was discussed. The agenda of bilateral cooperation, collaboration within the framework of the EAEU, as well as some other matters of mutual interest were discussed.
