PM: Northern Cyprus, Azerbaijan could launch direct charter flights soon
Direct charter flights between Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) could be launched in the near future, according to TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.
Üstel said that significant progress has been achieved in efforts to establish air links between Azerbaijan and the TRNC, following discussions with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and relevant government ministries, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“As a result of the work carried out with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan [Ali Asadov - ed.] and the relevant ministries, an important stage has been reached in launching charter flights between Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. I believe that, together with the cooperation agreements we will sign, we will see the opening of regular charter flights in the very near future,” he noted.
Üstel added that the planned air connection would go beyond transportation, describing it as a bridge to strengthen cooperation in tourism, trade, education, and cultural ties.
He said relations between Azerbaijan and the TRNC are expected to deepen further as cooperation agreements are finalised, paving the way for expanded engagement between the two sides.
