President Aliyev: Minsk Group was a tool for those wanting to prolong occupation of Azerbaijani lands
More than one million people in Azerbaijan became internally displaced due to the occupation of Armenia.
The remarks came from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the Baku conference of the parliamentary network of the Non-Aligned Movement, according to Report.
He noted that by visiting the liberated lands of Azerbaijan, everyone can witness the vandalism and destruction that the occupation of the country's territory has brought with it for almost 30 years.
Azerbaijan was waiting for help from the international community to liberate its lands from occupation and withdraw Armenian troops from its territory.
"The Minsk Group was created for this, but instead of help, it became a tool in the hands of those who wanted to continue the occupation of Azerbaijani lands," the head of state said.
According to him, the only goal of the Minsk Group was to "freeze" the conflict and leave the lands of Azerbaijan under occupation. It is no coincidence that Armenia and others want to restore the Minsk Group, but this is impossible.
The President added that Azerbaijan will continue to fight against injustice, violation of international law, and a selective approach to various conflicts and discrimination.
