Protest held in London to express support for environmental demonstration in Karabakh PHOTO

22 January 2023 11:23

A peaceful protest has been held in London's Parliament Square on January 21 against the illegal extractions of natural resources from Azerbaijan's Karabakh territories, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed.

According to Report, referring to the Azerbaijani State Committee for Diaspora Affairs, the protest was organized by the country's Coordination Council in the UK. Representatives of various Azerbaijani and Turkish diaspora organizations, the local public and students studying throughout the country attended the event.

Protesters held banners reading "Armenian environmental terror in Azerbaijan has to be stopped!", "Armenian mines = War crimes!", "We demand Justice" and other slogans during the two-hour campaign. They handed out informative leaflets to the public to bring attention to Armenian environmental terror being conducted on Azerbaijani soil.

The rally was also aiming to show their support for the protests that are being held in Karabakh on the Lachin-Khankendi road near the city of Shusha since December 12, organized by Azerbaijani NGO's and environmental activists. They are protesting near the checkpoint of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, demanding a meeting with the Commander, General Volkov and being granted access to the mineral deposits that are suspected of being illegally exploited by the Armenian side.
