Pundit: Iran not to tolerate if Armenia becomes platform for Western operations
Hayk Ayvazyan, the head of the Luys Analytical Centre, has said that Iran will not tolerate if Armenia becomes a platform for Western operations against it.
“Iran and Russia are trying to keep Armenia in this region, using at least the mechanisms of the EAEU. However, neither Iran nor Russia will tolerate this forever. There may come a time when Armenia will take practical steps, and not just limit itself to propaganda or statements in the National Assembly. For Iran, this could become a real legal threat that NATO will enter Armenia,” Ayvazyan said in an interview with the Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.
“At the moment there are no such solutions. There are exercises, granting status to European observers, but no radical steps have been taken yet. However, if Armenia follows this path, it is not indispensable; it can be replaced by other countries, including Azerbaijan. For example, the North-South Road already passes through Azerbaijan. Armenian products are not indispensable for Russia and Iran. They do not want the disappearance of Armenia as a state, but the West is leading Armenia along this path. The growth of external debt and the increase in drug trafficking indicate this.
Thus, if a state loses its independence, it will be a threat not only economically, but also biologically. These 12 US biolabs have a purpose. If Armenia tomorrow becomes a platform for a Western operation against Iran using these laboratories, Iran will respond to this. When Armenia takes practical steps that will threaten surrounding states economically, militarily and biologically, and if these threats increase, these states will know how to neutralize the active threat from Armenia,” the analyst said.
