Russia blames EU for lack of unanimous position on transit to Kaliningrad
The Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova has said that Russia continues to develop response measures to Lithuania's decision to block transit to Kaliningrad.
She noted that Russia is waiting for the European Commission to address a unanimous EU position on the issue of transit since there is currently no such position in Europe, according to Russia 24 TV channel.
“The situation around their aggressive, absolutely non-constructive approach regarding transit through Kaliningrad highlighted what they carefully concealed: the lack of unity in principle both in making decisions and in developing these decisions [and] in coordinating approaches to public activities,” Zakharova said.
The spokesperson noted that the European Commission and individual countries, in particular Lithuania, make contradictory statements on the topic by "not expressing pluralism or some kind of political diversity, but fulfilling an order, simply on the contrary to the interests of Europe”, adding they say things completely out of touch with reality.
