Russia develops improved cluster munition for planting mines
Russia has developed a cluster munition for remotely laying anti-tank mines with multiple rocket launchers (MLRS).
Range tests have already been conducted, TASS reports citing the description of the invention in the patent.
"The invention will significantly increase the efficiency of remote mining using multiple rocket launcher systems, planting anti-tank minefields on terrain at long distances and in a short time. Technical documentation for the claimed remote mining cluster unit has been developed and range tests of remote mining cluster units in the heads of rocket projectiles have been conducted," the document says.
The developers, including Igor Nasenkov, general director of Technodinamika JSC, state that the invention relates to cluster munitions, namely cluster blocks for remote mining of terrain by anti-tank-shaped charge mines.
