Russia says it fully meets food supply obligations to Iran
Russia is fulfilling all its obligations regarding food supplies to Iran, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev has stated on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, TASS reports.
Earlier, Patrushev said Russia maintains its status as a reliable trade partner and stable supplier despite global challenges.
“Global challenges may change, but Russia’s status as a reliable trade partner and stable supplier of food remains unchanged, despite everything, over recent years,” Patrushev stressed.
He further noted that Russian grain is purchased by more than 100 countries, adding that Russia accounts for about 20% of global wheat exports.
Patrushev also said export dynamics in 2026 remain positive, with volumes and revenues both exceeding last year’s levels. Grain exports in monetary terms have increased by about one-third, while barley and corn exports have nearly doubled.
According to him, Russia plans to supply around 60 million tonnes of grain to foreign markets by the end of the season, including 50 million tonnes of wheat.
To support this trend, the government is implementing measures for exporters, including subsidised lending, transportation support, and assistance in promoting goods abroad.
