Russia, South Africa develop projects to design weapons for third countries
Russia and the Republic of South Africa have developed projects to produce weapons for South Africa and for third countries.
Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS) described South Africa as the country with the most developed military-industrial complex on the African continent, Kommersant reports.
In particular, Moscow and Pretoria are building a service centre in southern Africa to repair both Russian and foreign-made helicopters. This centre will service, among others, helicopters of Angola and Mozambique, which have a lot of Soviet (Russian) made equipment.
"There are promising projects of cooperation in the field of joint development and production of armaments and military equipment, both for the national armed forces of our states and in the interests of third countries," the FSVTS representative said.
