Russia to take up Armenia as well, after addressing issues in Ukraine Ex president’s associate says
The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is primarily associated with Russia, and when Armenia refuses to participate in CSTO summits or exercises, it refuses Armenia-Russia allied relations.
“Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is not doing anything new. He is doing what he pledged to do after coming to power. He is doing what former US presidential security adviser John Bolton said in September 2018: ‘liberating’ the Armenian people from their 'historical stereotypes'; doing what French President Emmanuel Macron and other Western officials have said," a member of the Executive Body of the former Armenian ruling Republican Party Eduard Sharmazanov said in his remarks on Review program, Caliber.Az reports citing the Armenian media.
In fact, Sharmazanov believes that Pashinyan was brought to power by external forces in order to fulfil two goals: to close the page of the Karabakh conflict in favour of Azerbaijan and to change Armenia's foreign policy vector. Sargsyan's associate is sure that Pashinyan is making a foreign policy U-turn, realizing perfectly well that "the West will not come here" and will appoint a "caretaker" in the region in the person of Türkiye.
“I don't think Pashinyan is so stupid not to realize this. He is well aware of what is planned in the region, which is why he has avoided words of criticism against Ankara in recent years," he emphasized.
Sharmazanov is sure that Russia does not intend to allow itself to be pushed out of the region. The Republican party member connects Moscow's current passive approach with the situation in Ukraine. He is confident that after solving the issues in Ukraine, Russia will take up Armenia as well.
