Russian forces shoot down 19 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight
Russian air defence systems destroyed and intercepted 19 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles overnight on January 27 over several regions of Russia.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the largest number of drones — nine — was shot down over the Kursk region, Caliber.Az reports.
Five drones were destroyed over the Krasnodar region, three over the Sea of Azov, and one each over the Oryol and Belgorod regions.
A series of explosions occurred overnight in the Slavyansk district of the Krasnodar region. The incidents are believed to have resulted from air defence activity against Ukrainian kamikaze drones, which were reportedly attempting to attack the area for a second consecutive day.
Local residents said the explosions began around 1:40 a.m. and were heard in various parts of the district, while an air raid siren was also activated.
Explosions were also reported over the city of Kursk. Residents said loud blasts were heard around 1:00 a.m., with a total of approximately five to seven explosions recorded in different parts of the city.
