Russian leader outlines key condition for achieving global peace

11 October 2024 13:06

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that achieving universal peace and development is possible through respect for the opinions of each nation and its people, as well as recognition of their sovereignty.

This statement was made by President Putin during the forum titled "Interconnection of Times and Civilizations: The Foundation of Peace and Development" in Turkmenistan, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

"We firmly believe that global peace and comprehensive development can be ensured by considering the views of each nation, respecting the sovereign choices of countries, their worldviews, traditions, and religious beliefs," the Russian leader noted.

President Putin also expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for the contribution to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced that President Putin would be awarded the commemorative medal named after Makhtumkuli Fragi, a renowned poet and thinker, in honour of the 300th anniversary of his birth, which is being celebrated at the forum.

Moreover, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi has said that the Russian military forces deployed 50,000 servicemen to the Kursk region.

Syrskyi noted that this troop movement involved transferring forces from other fronts where offensive operations were taking place.

"We are aware that approximately 50,000 servicemen have been redirected to the Kursk direction from other areas," he stated.
