Russian nuclear giant offers Armenia partnership in energy sector
The Russian state corporation Rosatom has offered Armenia broad cooperation in the nuclear energy sector, including the construction of new nuclear power units and related projects.
According to a statement from Rosatom, quoted by Russian media, the partnership could cover power plants of large, medium, or small capacity, as well as non-nuclear projects.
On February 6, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev met with Alen Simonyan, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. The meeting was also attended by Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin.
During the meeting, Likhachev discussed progress on extending the operational life of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant and provided detailed information about plans for building new nuclear power units in the country.
