Separatist leader: Minsk neutral venue for South Caucasus security discussion
Minsk can become a neutral place for discussions about security in the South Caucasus.
The so-called president of Georgia's occupied region of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, made the remarks at a press conference after visiting Russia and Belarus, Interpressnews reports.
"Minsk can become a neutral place where we can hold discussions about security in the South Caucasus. This is one of the directions of work that we should strengthen," he said.
He claimed that there were forces opposed to a meeting between the leaders of Abkhazia and Belarus.
"Lukashenko, who welcomed me, drew attention to Georgia's sharp reaction," said Bzhania.
In 2022, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that "the Geneva discussions have become hostage to geopolitics" and indicated the need to conduct negotiations "in a more neutral place".
