Silk Road Support Group of OSCE PA sign "Istanbul Declaration"
The "Istanbul Declaration" was signed on October 18 at the conference of the Silk Road Support Group of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA).
According to APA, the document highlights the importance of expanding energy and food security cooperation between the countries that are members of the Silk Road Support Group, as well as the activation of transport corridors through evaluating the current regional events.
The Istanbul Declaration welcomes the successful connection of the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which is an important milestone in the completion of the Southern Gas Corridor.
Moreover, the document outlines the possibility of supplying additional Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe, which will contribute to the energy security of Europe due to the commissioning and sustainable operation of the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector (ICGB), for supplying more natural gas from Azerbaijan to Europe.
The Silk Road Support Group countries also appreciated the efforts to improve the Trans-Caspian East-West Corridor, also known as the Middle Corridor, which reshapes the multi-modal connection between Asia and Europe. A special emphasis was put on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which is an important part of the middle East-West corridor.
