Sinan Ogan to accompany Erdogan during his visit to Azerbaijan
Sinan Ogan will accompany Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his visit to Azerbaijan.
According to TurkicWorld, Sinan Ogan, former presidential candidate and member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, will visit Azerbaijan along with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his official visit on June 13.
After his successful re-election as President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan made his first foreign visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on June 12.
On June 13, the Turkish leader will arrive in Baku.
Far-right ATA Alliance’s presidential candidate Sinan Ogan, who garnered 5.17 percent of the votes in the first round of Turkish elections held on May 14, announced that he will support the ruling People's Alliance candidate President Recep Tayyip Erdogan against the main opposition bloc’s candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu in the second round.
“I announce that we will support the candidate of the People’s Alliance President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and invite the voters who voted for us in the first round to vote for Mr. Erdogan,” Ogan said on May 22.
It was a decision made “after deliberation and because we believe that it is the right thing for our country and our people,” he said.
Ogan graduated from Marmara University with a degree in business administration in 1989. He obtained a Master's degree in Financial Law/Banking from the same university in 1992. He later obtained his doctorate from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in Russia in 2009.
According to the politician's website, he worked as a lecturer at the Azerbaijan Foundation for Turkic World Studies from 1992 to 2000. During the same period, he headed the Azerbaijan office of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
In the 2000s he worked at the Eurasian Centre for Strategic Studies (ASAM), where he headed a department dedicated to Russia and Ukraine. In 2004, he founded his own research centre, TÜRKSAM (Centre for Strategic Analysis of Türkiye), which is still working today.
After becoming an MP in 2011, the politician was a member of the Türkiye-Albania and Türkiye-Nigeria parliamentary friendship groups. During his term, Ogan also served as secretary general of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan parliamentary friendship group.
