SOCAR, bp discuss energy transition, emission reduction PHOTO
President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovshan Najaf has met with bp Executive Vice President for Strategy and Sustainability Giulia Chierchia in Baku.
The sides emphasized that the unanimous decision to hold COP29 in Azerbaijan this year is a sign of high confidence of the international community in the country, Caliber.Az reports citing SOCAR.
The importance of the memorandum signed between SOCAR and bp last December on expansion of cooperation in the field of environmental protection was also underlined at the meeting.
Rovshan Najaf informed bp vice-president about SOCAR's activities in the environmental sphere, goals for the medium and long-term emission reduction. He also noted that reduction of flaring in the production process to zero and achievement of zero emissions by 2050 remain the key goals of SOCAR.
The sides exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, as well as discussed the energy transition.
