SOCAR interested in developing oil, gas fields in Turkmenistan, official says
Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR is interested in participating in projects to develop promising oil and gas fields in Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan's Economy Minister of Mikail Jabbarov said.
Speaking at an event marking Turkmenistan’s Independence Day, Jabbarov stated that there is considerable potential for expanding energy cooperation between the two countries, and noted that SOCAR is keen to be involved in field development projects in Turkmenistan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He also emphasised the broader significance of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan cooperation in enhancing the efficiency of the Middle Corridor, a key transit route experiencing steady growth in traffic. Jabbarov highlighted Turkmenistan’s modern transport infrastructure and pointed to Azerbaijan’s investments in seaports, railways, and logistics centers as key contributions to regional connectivity.
In addition, he referred to the planned implementation of a new transport corridor linking mainland Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, suggesting that the project would further boost the transit potential of both countries and support regional development.
