SOCAR launches innovation contest on smart cities and industry solutions

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has launched "Smart Urbanization Capstone Program" aimed at developing technologies for smart urban development and industrial systems.

The initiative seeks to promote sustainable city planning and encourage the creation of advanced technological solutions across a range of sectors, including energy, environment, water management, infrastructure and urban services, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The six-week programme will bring together students, young professionals, researchers and start-up teams, who will work on project concepts with the support of mentors. Organisers say the goal is to identify practical and scalable ideas that can contribute to more efficient and sustainable urban development.

Selected teams will present their projects at a final Demo Day following the evaluation process.

Applicants are required to submit their proposals via an online form. The deadline for applications is June 26, 2026.
