SOCAR official: Azerbaijan to expand gas export markets beyond 16 countries
Azerbaijan is set to further expand the geography of its natural gas exports in 2026, according to Vitaly Baylarbayov, member of the Executive Committee of the International Gas Union and Deputy Vice President of SOCAR.
Speaking at the 31st Baku Energy Forum, Baylarbayov said the country is already supplying gas to 16 countries and expects that number to increase through new agreements and ongoing negotiations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"If we talk about gas, we are currently supplying it to 16 countries. This number will grow. It will increase already this year. You know about the contract we signed yesterday here in Baku. But there will also be new contracts and further expansion of our geography," he said.
In 2025, Azerbaijan exported around 25 billion cubic metres of gas, with more than half of those volumes delivered to Europe.
