SOCAR president holds meetings on energy innovation at World Economic Forum
On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf held a series of high-level meetings focused on technology, sustainability, and the global energy transition, according to statements he shared on social media.
Najaf met with William Marshall, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Planet Labs PBC, where discussions centered on the use of advanced satellite imagery and geospatial analytics, Caliber.Az reports.

The talks explored how such technologies can support environmental monitoring, digital solutions, and data-driven decision-making. Najaf said the exchange highlighted opportunities to strengthen SOCAR’s commitment to innovation, decarbonisation, and responsible energy development in line with global best practices.

In a separate meeting, Najaf held discussions with Vimal Kapur, Chairman and CEO of Honeywell. The meeting focused on how advanced technologies, digitalisation, and innovation can accelerate the energy transition and improve efficiency across the energy value chain.
The two sides also exchanged views on sustainability, renewable energy, human capital development, and other areas of mutual interest.
