SOCAR, TotalEnergies discuss second stage of Absheron field development
The State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and French company TotalEnergies have discussed the second stage of development of the Absheron gas condensate field located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
Report informs with reference to SOCAR that during the meeting between SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne, the sides expressed satisfaction with the long-term fruitful cooperation between the companies, and the strategic importance of joint projects in terms of energy security of the country and economic development of the region was emphasised.
Within the framework of the meeting, the historical significance of the start of gas production under the Early Production Scheme (EPS) project at the Absheron gas condensate field and the event organised on this occasion were highlighted.
The meeting also reviewed the ongoing operations of the EPS project, technical and technological safety systems, as well as opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector, and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
It should be noted that the first gas from the Absheron gas condensate field, located about 100 kilometres southeast of Baku, was produced in early July this year.
