Starlink to explore broadband expansion in Azerbaijan
Rebecca Slick Hunter, Starlink's Director for Global Licensing and Market Activation, met with Azerbaijan's Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev, to discuss the potential expansion of satellite broadband internet service in Azerbaijan.
The meeting focused on the feasibility of introducing Starlink’s high-speed internet service to the country, Minister Nabiyev made a post on his X account, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Starlink, a division of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, is known for its mission to deliver high-speed internet to remote and underserved regions through a network of low-Earth orbit satellites. The discussions with Azerbaijani officials are part of Starlink’s broader effort to extend its reach and improve connectivity in various parts of the world.
Minister Nabiyev highlighted the importance of expanding internet access in Azerbaijan, particularly in remote areas, and expressed interest in exploring how Starlink’s technology could address connectivity challenges.
